Winnipeg city council has approved changes to make it simpler to add an attached secondary suite to your home.
The changes will eliminate red tape for homeowners - they will just have to obtain approval from the city's director of planning, property and development, rather than go through a hearing at city hall.
That hearing required now would only be necessary if a neighbour were to appeal the suite.
The changes would also open the door to detached "granny suites".
