Baby Kangaroo clings to life at Zoo
CJOB News Team reporting
5/15/2009

Veterinarians at Assiniboine Park Zoo have been busy lately trying to keep a baby kangaroo alive.

The four month old Red Kangaroo - which weighs just 560 grams - was found lying helpless on the floor of its enclosure after being ejected from her mom's pouch.

Zoo officials say baby roos rarely survive outside the pouch as they're dependant on their mother's milk within.

Zoo staff are feeding her formula every three hours and keep her wrapped in a soft towel inside a bag, which substitutes for the pouch, and say her chances of survival are improving each day.
