A new fire rescue house has opened in Winnipeg, providing a temporary living place to people who have lost their homes to fire.
The house includes state-of-the-art fire alarms and sprinklers.
Martin Johnson of the Firefighters Burn Fund says it provides an emergency shelter for families.
People who stay at the house pay $30 a day.. The money covers bedding, furniture and food.
Officials say the house still needs some items, such as toys, toiletries and linens. Originally, there had been a plan to have a counselor live in the building to help families cope, but organizers say there's no money for that right now.
