A financial review of the Cree National Child and Family Caring Agency in Manitoba has turned up irregularities. The report shows board members received almost 680-thousand dollars from 2005 to 2008 for honouraria, travel and other expenses including 35-thousand dollars for a retreat to Kelowna in 2007. Accountants also produced a report raising concerns over the compensation paid to the former Executive Director of the agency who received over 800-thousand dollars over three years. The report says in one case the former Executive Director was paid substantially more than she should have been in earned days off. Her travel expenses have also come under question. The Authority says it will take every legal means possible to gather evidence and address the findings. In the meantime, it's sharing the information with the offices of the federal and provincial auditor generals, and it will conduct its own forensic audit.
