Naming rights for city property for sale
CJOB News Team reporting
11/23/2009

The City of Winnipeg is starting to sell naming rights to civic properties and assets.

Parks, pools, community clubs, parking meters, the much-touted police helicopter and 1300 encrypted memory sticks for police cruisers.

Those are some of the city's assets that could be renamed.

The city quietly launched a website - www.sponsorwinnipeg.ca - that lists what's up for grabs for naming.

But the website doesn't talk about what it will charge for naming rights.

In an interview with CJOB's Tamara King, Grant Nordman, the city councilor in charge of the file known as Sponsorship Winnipeg, declined to comment on the costs.

Nordman says the purchase of naming rights is open to both companies and citizens.
