Manitoba and Saskatchewan have inked what their calling an "expression of interest" over a power deal.
Manitoba Finance Minister Rosann Wowchuk sat down with Saskatchewan Energy and Resources Minister Bill Boyd this morning at the Legislature to sign the document and formally establish a working group to explore the expansion of energy sharing between the two provinces.
The working group will study ways to add about 150 megawatts of power to flow between Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
That's enough power to light 150-thousand homes.
Boyd says it could be helpful in case of an emergency like an ice storm or during scheduled maintenance that causes one province to lose some power capacity.
A report from the working group is expected back this fall.
