CJOB's Robert Holland reporting
10/7/2008
The University of Manitoba’s pharmacy students have once again been ranked number ONE in the 2008 Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC) licensing examinations.
The U of M was one of only two programs in Canada to get a 100 per cent overall certification on the national licensing examinations for this year.. The exam process includes a written multiple choice test and a practical, structured clinical examination component.
Dean David Collins notes Manitoba averages a 93 per cent pass rate each year, and students have achieved first place three times in this competition over the past five years.
Success on the pharmacy exams has practical benefits for the students and the faculty, translating to job placement and eligibility for licensure in Canada.
