Police Station Opens
CJOB's Clay Young reporting
10/23/2008

The first brand new police station in decades in Winnipeg has officially opened its doors.

The new East District Police Station at 1750 Dugald road is the first new station in the last 40-years. It combines officers and support staff from the old District Four station on Pandora Avenue West and the District Five station on Provencher Boulevard which are both now closed.

Among the improvements, the new station has several enhanced security features for officers and prisoners and is built with extensive environmental and energy conservation features. It also includes interview rooms for crime victims and witnesses designed to make them feel as comfortable as possible.
The East District Station and the closure of the two older stations mark the first phase of the Police Services move from six districts to four.
