Two North Kildonan men are being treated in hospital for stab wounds for trying to help a neighbour.
And one of the good Samaritans says he's lucky to have walked away as healthy as he is.
Mike Koop tells Global news he and his friend saw a man allegedly breaking into their neighbour's car. They jumped in to intervene and Koop was stabbed right under his eye.
"It just felt like I got hit in the face with a hammer and then I stumbled back and realized I was bleeding like crazy out of my face... you don't' expect something like that to happen in your back yard," he says.
His friend was stabbed in the back - he's still in hospital, but is stable.
The car belonged to Koop's neighbour Joelle She tells CJOB she doesn't know how to thank her neighbours.
"I felt quite guilty to be honest with you. I don't know if I'm supposed to say thank you or sorry. I don't know how to, sort of, pay them back," Joelle says.
Police are looking for a suspect - aboriginal in appearance, 17-22 years old, about 6 feet tall and slender with short dark hair.

Manitoba Conservatives are encouraging all Manitobans, who have felt bullied by the NDP government, to join them Thursday at the Legislature for the Rally For Respect.
Opposition leader Brian Pallister says they're standing up for Manitobans and their right to have a say on a tax hike they clearly do not want.
Pallister says the NDP also needs to pay closer attention to families dealing with Autism, stop bullying municipalities and other Manitobans that disagree with government policy and keep its promise not to raise taxes like the PST, an idea they themselves called ridiculous 18 months ago.
The rally starts at 11:30 am.

A new report says at least 200-thousand people find themselves homeless in Canada every year. The State of Homelessness in Canada report, finds that on any given night, about 30,000 people are homeless at a cost of $7-billion dollars a year for taxpayers. One of the report's authors, Stephen Gaetz tells CJOB unfortunately there are no concrete numbers for Winnipeg because there are no Point-In-Time counts of the homeless population."In the United States they do this annually across the country every year and one of our recommendations is that the government of Canada support a national Point- In-Time count so that we can see in Winnipeg, who is homeless and what is the scale of couch surfing and that sort of thing."He says that approach would also help down the road to see if the problem is getting better or worse.

Constable Steven Goetz says the man insisted that he never saw the girl.
However he also failed to slow down in the construction zone.
