A piece of history will be welcoming visitors again soon.
The Dalnavert House Museum was closed in 2013, but is expected to re-open at the end of May.
It’s thanks to a deal reached between the Manitoba Historical Society and ‘The Friends of Dalnavert’.
Cindy Tugwell is part of that group as head of Heritage Winnipeg.
She explains the pact this way, “The Manitoba Historical Society just did not have the resources to be able to run and manage it the way it needed to be run. So, they were ready for an organization or another group to be able to take over.”
Under the deal, the ‘Friends’ will take over management and eventual ownership of the 1895 Victorian-era home.
Tugwell says without the agreement, the former premier’s home could have been sold to a private owner.
