A long standing Manitoba tradition will soon be no more.
Effective March 1st, you will no longer need to put those little stickers on your license plate.
The Manitoba government says it’s because police now have technology that lets them check if plates are valid without needing to see the year on the sticker.
Whenever you are due for new stickers in the next few years, you’ll be given some blank white ones to cover them up. If you want your stickers gone sooner, you can go to an Autopac outlet to get them yourself.
Manitoba Public Insurance says this will save them about $200,000 annually.
Quebec and Saskatchewan have already gotten rid of the stickers.
