A Winnipeg music legend is going to be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame as a solo artist.
Burton Cummings will be the 2016 inductee during JUNO week April 1.
Cummings received seven JUNO awards in his long career and has previously been inducted as a member of The Guess Who in 1987.
“I’ve received many acknowledgements through the decades, but truthfully, I cannot say that any of them outweighs this one,” Cummings said in a statement. ” I don’t take this lightly, and my sincere heartfelt thanks goes out to everyone who had anything to do with making this happen for me.”
During his storied singing and songwriting career, Cummings has been inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame, Canada’s Walk of Fame, Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame and the Prairie Music Hall of Fame. He has also received the Order of Canada, Order of Manitoba and the Governor-General’s Performance Arts Award.
