Sadly, days before her famous appearance in front of all of Winnipeg, she died.
Global News reports that Winnipeg Willow, the woodchuck that annually comes out on Groundhog Day passed away Friday at the age of five.
The Prairie Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre posted the bad news on their Facebook page.
This Tuesday, February 2nd is Groundhog Day — the yearly event where it’s predicted we will get more winter or nicer temperatures, according to whether or not the woodchuck sees its shadow or not.
Spoiler alert: The Wildlife Centre says the woodchuck’s behaviour recently was leaning towards calling for an early Spring.
