The last time the Jets played the Hurricanes, it was a disastrous start that doomed Winnipeg.
Within the first ten minutes of the game on February 5, Winnipeg trailed 4-0 but managed to make things interesting in a 5-3 loss.
This time in Carolina, the Jets once again couldn’t recover from a sluggish start in a 2-1 loss to the Hurricanes.
Ondrej Pavelec gave up a pair of goals but the team in front of him only managed eight shots on goal in the first two periods.
But once again the Jets came to life in the third, with Blake Wheeler cutting the lead in half just under seven minutes into the final frame. Winnipeg fired 13 shots at Eddie Lack in the period but couldn’t manage an equalizer.
Winnipeg falls to 25-28-3 on the season and are back in action again Thursday in Tampa Bay.
