It was a banner year for Festival du Voyageur in Winnipeg, thanks in large part to the weather.
Attendance for the 47th edition of the 10-day French-Canadian festival was up 13 per cent from last year, bringing over 102,000 visits to the site.
While it didn’t break the record of 105,000 people, organizers are still ecstatic at how the event was received.
“It was fantastic. It’s great to have a nice year like that,” says executive director Ginette Lavack Walters. “It just means that more people can come out and celebrate with us, and they absolutely did that.”
Unseasonably warm temperatures, combined with limited snowfall, made conditions favorable compared to last February.
