The Winnipeg Jets allowed 3 goals in the first period and never recovered in a 4-1 loss to the Calgary Flames Wednesday Night. Joe Colborne, Michael Frolik, and Sean Monhahan did the early damage for the Flames- scoring those 3 goals on just 9 shots on Jets starter Ondrej Pavelec. Frolik finished the night with a goal and two assists and was named the game’s First Star.
Drew Stafford took a pass off the end boards from Blake Wheeler to score Winnipeg’s only goal midway through the second period. Calgary Captain Mark Giordano scored a power play goal with just 4 seconds remaining.
Joni Ortio was solid between the pipes for the Flames with 28 saves as the Jets were denied their first 3 game winning streak for the tenth time this season.
Winnipeg opens a 4 game home stand Friday Night at 7 p.m. against Chicago. It will be Andrew Ladd’s first game against his former team following the February 25th trade that sent him to the Blackhawks for Marko Dano and a first round draft pick.
