A precautionary Code Red is being issued by the Rural Municipality of St. Andrews due to an ice jam on the Red River.
Mayor George Pike tells 680 CJOB they warned all residents of the R-M, even though no homes are threatened by potential flooding.
“The area we’re concentrating on right now, and the only area, is the area south of the number 4 highway bridge, which is towards Breezy Point, which is the area entering into Netley and Netley Lake and then eventually into the mouth of the lake.”
Pike adds concern that creeks and drains in the area could back up due to ice jams, prompted the code red.
It suggests residents be ready for an emergency evacuation and move valuable items out of low-lying areas.
