Tragedy on a first nations community near the Ontario-Manitoba border.
Police say there’s been a fatal house fire on the Pikangikum First nation in northwestern Ontario.
An officer, Constable Diana Cole, only has said multiple people died and several more are missing.
She did not release specific numbers or release any names.
However, the Member of Parliament for the area, Robert Nault says his office has been told that there are nine deaths, three of them children. He also added that they’re all members of the same family.
Nault also says work is being done to send a team to the area to help the community cope with the situation.
The blaze happened in a single family home around midnight, and the cause is under investigation.
The community is also another that has been plagued with the issue of suicides.
