Have you ever seen a UFO?
Even if you think you have, odds are it was something normal in the sky, but that isn’t stopping people from reporting UFO sightings.
A study done by Winnipeg-based Ufology Research found that Canadians reported 1,200 sightings in 2015, the second-most on record.
“They see some lights in the sky that don’t seem to be planes or stars or fireballs or anything else,” explains science writer Chris Rutkowski. “Sometimes these objects move in some strange ways, sometimes people report seeing triangular objects. The old style flying saucers of old have long fallen out of favour, unfortunately.”
Rutkowski says most possible sightings can be explained as normal things in the sky, though a few are never solved.
“When we really go through the cases one-by-one, and sit down and try and analyze them, we drop down to somewhere around one or two or three per cent.”
Rutkowski says so far no concrete proof of a real UFO has been found, but there is always a chance at finding something interesting in the night sky.
