The community of Wolseley is coming together after a fire last weekend hurt six people, including four firefighters.
The Belltower Community Cafe is holding a picnic Saturday afternoon in an effort to bring people together and build a stronger community. The event is free, but donations to those who have been affected by the fire are welcome.
Organizer Rorie Mcleod Arnould tells 680 CJOB the fire has been tough on residents.
“People start thinking about their own houses, their own kids and whether they want them to play outside or not. We want them to make sure people know there are lots of folks in this neighborhood who believe the best in people and who want folks to be outside and enjoying the community without having to worry about these kinds of things happening.”
Arnould adds there will also be a discussion group for anyone needing to talk about their experience during this traumatic time.
The suspicious blaze at Maryland and Westminster destroyed three buildings last Saturday and caused roughly $4.5 million in damage.
No arrests have been made.
