So often the news is filled with stories of hurt and harm. Today ? We gave you a good news story ! Heck, I’d even say GREAT NEWS story !
10 month’s ago, our airwaves were filled with the story of Allexis Siebrecht. She was the young 11 year old girl who was in dire need of a life saving liver transplant. Things grew very desperate as doctor’s said she only had weeks to live if a donor was not found. Then came May 30th/2015. That was the day that Allexis’s Mom Liz got the call. A liver had been found and they both needed to get on plane to Toronto ASAP to have the surgery.
To say the surgery went well? Understatement. Allexis got the transplant, and recovered even quicker than her doctors expected.
This past Friday night, while scrolling my news-feed on Facebook, I stumbled across a post from Mom Liz Siebrecht. Allexis had to go to the hospital. As soon as I saw that line, I instantly thought rejection.
Boy was I wrong ! Allexis had been using her skateboard to do a “360 tailwhip while dropping into the bowl” and sprained her ankle ! How incredible is that ???
She’s not only skateboarding with no trouble, but getting ready to take part this summer in the transplant games held in Toronto. Mom-Liz says she’s been doing so well that they’ve even started to decrease her anti-rejection medication.
I asked Allexis this morning if she had one message to people listening who may be in a similar situation, what would it be? Her answer? Never give up………
