Canadians have stepped up to assist the people of northern Alberta in a way that cannot help but inspire all of us. Tens of millions of dollars have been donated through the Red Cross. Children have set up lemonade stands, entertainers have commited to benefit performers (you’ll hear more about one in Winnipg on Wednesday’s show), Winnipeggers turned out to buy Tim Horton’s coffee in our parking lot to show their support and communities all over Alberta have opened their doors and homes to the evacuees. first Nations have welcomed strangers into their communities. The list of generous acts goes on.
Once again Canadians have shown themselves to be among the world’s most caring people. We have done it. We cannot be accused of those sins of omission. Well done Canada. My mother, somewhere, is smiling.
