It seems that winning million-dollar lottery prizes in Manitoba is contagious.
Duane Stewart is Winnipeg’s latest millionaire, winning $1-million in the April 2 Lotto 6/49 draw.
Just yesterday we learned about Pat Tavener of Wanless, who won $1-million in the April 27 draw.
According to a press release, Stewart found out he had won the day after the draw.
“I got up early, made some coffee and went to the lottery website. I saw I had the first couple of numbers, then the next couple. Then I saw the first eight digits,” Stewart said. “I was really surprised and happy. I went to the store to double-check and my hands started shaking.”
After playing Lotto 6/49 for more than 30 years, he says its a dream come true to finally win big. So what does he plan to do with the money?
“I’m retiring. There’s no ifs, ands or buts about it.”
Stewart bought his winning ticket from Sobeys Northdale on Henderson Highway.
