If you’re in the Fort Garry area next week, head’s up, you could hear alarms and explosions.
Hydro crews will be detonating implosion connectors along the transmission right of way, between Taylor and Parker Avenue, as well as Chevrier and Bishop Grandin.
Construction Supervisor Barrett McLeod tells 680 CJOB this is to make room for the rapid transit corridor.
He adds they will send out a warning before the explosions goes off.
“There will be three blasts of an air horn then a count down from ten, then the implode connection happens and a long blast of an air horn after. That signals that we are clear and we can go in and inspect the connection and make sure everything went well,” says McLeod.
This is what it looks and sounds like when it was done in another location.
If you want to go check it out, McLeod recommends keeping a distance and bringing some earplugs.
The detonations will take place from May 15th until the 28th between 9:00a.m.- 3:00p.m.
