Today is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, which recognizes the work being done across the globe to advance LGBT equality. And Canada is celebrating with groundbreaking legislation that will guarantee full protection to the human rights of transgender people across Canada.
“As a society, we have taken many important steps toward recognizing and protecting the legal rights for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning or two-spirited community,” Prime Minister Trudeau said.
He added “There remains much to be done, though. Far too many people still face harassment, discrimination and violence for being who they are. This is unacceptable.”
Still, we don’t know exactly what this bill will cover. And while this is a good start, do you feel more is needed?
