Manitoba is joining the New West Partnership with our western neighbours.
The alliance formed in 2010 between the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan, however Manitoba’s former NDP Government had decided against joining.
Reversing that decision has been a priority for the new Progressive Conservative Government and Premier Brad Pallister. He and his counterparts to the west have agreed to immediately commence negotiations that would lead Manitoba to join the trade agreement.
“Manitoba has enormous potential from its resource wealth and central location in North America which will be amplified under this key economic partnership,” said Pallister. “Manitoba companies and families will see the benefits of expanded business opportunities and partnerships fostered under the NWP and we look forward to formally joining within our first 100 days in office.”
