Thousands of school kids got out of class Friday, for a special trip to the Forks and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.
Roughly 2000 kids from all 77 schools in the division are marching with banners they’ve created this school year to celebrate human rights.
Rob Riel works with the Winnipeg School Division and says there will be one banner on display for each school.
He says it caps off a years worth of learning about things like diversity and equality.
“It’s a key component for students to learn just to understand who the other students are, where they come from, who they are, what language they speak.”
Mayor Brian Bowman met with the students earlier in the year.
The walk will run until about 2 p.m. Friday.
