Would you like Canadians to have access to a rifle similar to that used in the Orlando terrorist attack? Conservative MP Bob Zimmer would.
The MP wants to make it easier for the public to obtain and use an AR-15, the same type of semi-automatic rifle used by the shooter in Orlando’s massacre. Granted Zimmer did table this petition back in May, and not after the attack. His petition asks the feds to designate the AR-15 as a non-restrictive weapon. This reclassification would allow Canadians to use the weapon outside a range, in practices such as hunting.
Current laws allow Canadians to own the AR-15, with a special license, usually only permitted on a gun range.
