WINNIPEG – Coming into Saturday’s action at the Football Canada Cup, both Manitoba teams were the underdogs.
Unfortunately for both, there was no happy underdog ending.
The 8th-seeded Manitoba Silver squad was absolutely wrecked 52-0 by defending champ and top-ranked Quebec in the nightcap at Investors Group Field.
Earlier in the day the Manitoba Gold team, seeded 6th, lost a defensive struggle 11-0 to 3rd-seeded Saskatchewan.
Both Manitoba teams will now play on the consolation side of the bracket. Gold will face 7th-seed New Brunswick Tuesday at 10 a.m. while Silver will battle 5th-seed Nova Scotia Tuesday at 1 p.m.
The Canada Cup is held annually for the top under-18 football players from across the country.
