CALGARY – “Taliyah, honey, if you’re watching this, we love you. Stay strong honey.”
The family of a missing five-year-old Calgary girl is pleading for her safe return.
An Amber Alert is still in effect for Taliyah Leigh Marsman, whose mother, Sara Baillie, was found dead in their home last night.
In a tearful news conference, flanked by friends and family, Scott Hamilton, Sara’s aunt, says Taliyah loved to play on her iPad and ride her bike.
“Taliyah is a vivacious, wonderful child. Curious. She lives in our hearts when we’re not with her and she’s in our thoughts also… the bicycle sits in our garage, waiting for her to come back,” he said.
Hamilton says his niece will be greatly missed.
“Sara was a beautiful young woman who was single-handedly, pretty much, raising her daughter. We love her and we miss her,” Hamilton said.
Police say Taliyah Leigh Marsman was taken from the area of Panamount Boulevard NW.
Calgary police say the girl’s father is cooperating in the investigation.
Hamilton pleaded for anyone who might have Taliyah to surrender her safely.
“Please return her. Drop her off at an RCMP station, Calgary police service station or grocery store, gas station, wherever you want. Contact the family, we’ll come and pick her up,” he said.
Some of the girl’s babysitters are putting up posters in the neighbourhood to try and help find her.
Anyone with information is asked to call police immediately.
