Winnipeg – The Golf Manitoba Accurate Dorwin Men’s and Women’s Junior Championships were completed without delay this week at Portage and Bel Acres, despite some challenges with the weather.
Glenboro’s Zach Wytinck was the runaway winner of the Provincial Men’s Jr Championship, finishing 10 shots ahead of runner up Sam Diamond of St. Charles. Wytinck, the 17 year old younger brother of 2012 Manitoba Golfer of the Year Josh Wytinck, shot rounds of 71-69-75-76 for a 5 over total of 291.
Wytinck, who is also a prospect of the WHL Red Deer Rebels, will lead Team Manitoba into the Canadian Junior Boys Championship set for August 1-4 in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
It was a much tighter race for the title in the Women’s Junior Tournament, with Shilo’s Bobbi Uhl edging defending champ Camryn Roadley of Glendale by 2 strokes.
The 2014 Manitoba Junior Bantam Girls Champion and Erickson Collegiate student shot rounds of 75-79-80 to lead from start to finish with a +16 total of 233. Uhl and Team Manitoba will now represent the province at the Canadian Junior Girls Championship beginning August 2nd in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia.
