WINNIPEG – A local Bastille Day celebration felt the pain in Nice from across the ocean.
The Alliance Francaise Manitoba’s Alan Nobili tells 680 CJOB, they found out about the attack during their party in Winnipeg.
He says they chose not cancel the rest of the celebration, but rather to honour the victims.
“I had to make up my mind quickly because most of the people didn’t know what was happening and some others were very well informed. So, we decided to go on celebrating, to go on partying,” said Nobili.
“We went on celebrating by thinking of these people.”
Nobili had family at the Bastille celebration in Nice; he says he’s talked to them and they’re all safe.
