WINNIPEG – A Winnipeg man is accused of trying to import several grams of the potentially lethal drug fentanyl from Asia.
The Canada Border Services Agency says that on July 25, their officers at the Vancouver International Mail Centre intercepted 39 grams of the drug in a parcel that came from China, destined for a Winnipeg address.
A joint investigation with the Mounties in Winnipeg led to the arrest last Friday of a 21-year-old suspect.
Jayden Obireck-Becker is facing charges of importation and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a prohibited weapon.
The CBSA said the quantity of fentanyl seized could have produced up to 400 doses.
