WINNIPEG – Central Italy is still reeling after a devastating earthquake killed nearly 300 people last Tuesday.
Early on August 23, the quake rocked Italy, killing 290 people, injuring 388 and leaving many more homeless. It centred on the small town of Amatrice.
Now, the local Italian community here is doing what they can to pitch in and help survivors.
The Italian Canadian League of Manitoba, Holy Rosary Church, Centro Caboto Centre, and the Vice Consulate of Italy are teaming up to hold a pasta fundraising dinner.
It will take place at the Centro Caboto Centre at 1055 Wilkes Avenue on Thursday from 5-9 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person and there will be a cash bar.
All funds raised will be transferred to the Canadian Red Cross.
