WINNIPEG – Heading into the final weekend of the season, the Winnipeg Goldeyes know if they want to make sure they’re playoff bound, it would help to sweep Fargo-Moorhead.
They got things started with a 16-6 win over the RedHawks at Shaw Park in the opener of their final four-game series of the season.
But the Fish weren’t able to separate from Laredo, who stays just a half game back in the wild card race thanks to a 10-4 win over Wichita.
With three games remaining, the Goldeyes and Lemurs cannot tie: the Lemurs have played one fewer game but that game will not be made up.
That means as long as the Goldeyes keep winning, they will get in. Technically they remain alive for the North Division title, but one more loss or one more St. Paul win and the Saints will clinch it.
The Fish continue their push for the postseason at Shaw Park tonight. First pitch at 6:05.
