WINNIPEG – A lot of research on child care spaces in Manitoba is about to begin.
The Manitoba Child Care Association points to an Auditor General Report from 2013 that says better data is needed to make the system work better.
The wait list for licensed child care continues to climb in Manitoba, with over 15,000 families now in a desperate search to find a daycare.
That’s almost double the number since the Online Child Care Registry was introduced five years ago.
A survey for parents with kids in child care will be done later this month.
There will also be a survey of the child care workforce, a public opinion survey of the general public and a survey of business leaders to find how the issues involved impact the workplace.
The results of the research project are expected later this year.
