WINNIPEG – The Lincoln Locomotive is headed straight into the Blue Bombers Ring of Honour.
The team have announced Leo Lewis will be this week’s inductee. As usual, there will be a half time ceremony as part of Saturday’s game against the Argonauts.
Lewis played for the Bombers for 12 seasons, from 1955-1966. He played in six Grey Cups and won four.
He earned his nickname when he played college football at Lincoln University, is still the Bombers all time yardage leader with 18,577 yards (8,861 rushing, 4,251 receiving, and 5,465 in returns). He was also the Bombers’ all-time leading rusher upon his retirement in 1966, until Charles Roberts surpassed him in the 2007 season.
Lewis is a member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and the Winnipeg Football Club Hall of Fame.
He passed away in August of 2013.
