WINNIPEG – A Winnipeg man is behind bars and faces a slew of drug charges after police raided his hotel room.
On Monday police search a West End hotel room and found nearly 1,500 blotter tabs. Tabs are commonly used to distribute LSD and allows for easy dosing of potent substances.
It’s possible the tabs were the powerful opioid carfentanil with a street value of $30,000.
Carfentanil is 100 times more potent than fentanyl and was originally designed as a tranquilizer for large animals such as moose or elephants.
But police can’t yet confirm if it is actually carfentanil pending some tests.
Police say that taking the drug can easily cause overdose deaths or long-term health problems in humans.
37-year-old Grayson Richard Parris remains in police custody.
