WINNIPEG – Two people are facing charges after their car smashed into a light pole in the Windsor Park area early Saturday morning.
Winnipeg Police officers spotted a Dodge Neon speeding along Cottonwood Road at around 5:50 a.m. The driver then drove over the median and struck a traffic light standard at Archibald Street.
The two inside the car attempted to flee on foot, but they were promptly apprehended.
Police say the two suspects were in possession of a .22 calibre rifle, methamphetamine and three bolt cutters.
Cody Hartog, 21, and Shannon Ogal, 37, have been charged with several drug and weapon related offences.
Hartog is also facing charges for his driving, including: dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and driving while disqualified.
Both suspects remain custody.
