WINNIPEG – Most of Winnipeg’s 15 city councillors met today to talk about growth fees.
The main takeaway from the meeting is that they plan to meet again.
Councillors are tight-lipped about the specifics discussed in the closed-door meeting.
But Jeff Browaty admits if growth fees are approved, they probably won’t be in place January 1st.
“That’s just based on the timeframe and the consultation that needs to go on,” says Browaty. “I hope to support this because I believe growth should pay for growth… I just don’t believe in the basket of infrastructure goods that’s trying to be loaded into it.”
Councillor John Orlikow says they will meet again next Friday to continue the discussion.
