WINNIPEG – The bizarre and growing trend across North America of people dressing as clowns and creeping others out is not going over well with real clowns.
Winnipeg’s Dee Dee The Clown, also known as Deanna Hartmier is appalled.
She tells 680 CJOB these people are tarnishing her profession.
“I am not so happy about it,” says Hartmier. “First and foremost, these people are not clowns. That’s the number one thing people have to remember. It’s no different than if I were to put on a Fred Flinstone mask [and claim] that it makes me Fred Flinstone.”
She says professional clowns find themselves fighting for their livelihoods over this craze, which is turning a lot of people off.
