WINNIPEG – It was a busy Thanksgiving weekend on Manitoba’s highways as RCMP officers cracked down on dangerous driving.
As part of Operation Impact, the RCMP issued nearly 1000 traffic charges including 12 impaired driving charges and eight roadside suspensions.
About 900 of those were charges for things like speeding or running red lights.
It’s a significant increase from last year, where almost 600 total traffic charges were laid.
So far, there have been 82 fatalities this year on Manitoba’s highways including three people killed during the Thanksgiving weekend.
