WINNIPEG – The group that looks into serious incidents involving police has two new cases.
The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba says the separate incidents involve two people who reported being hurt while being arrested by Winnipeg Police officers.
The first happened in February when a man claimed that as he was being handcuffed, his arm was injured.
After he was released, he went to hospital where he says he was told that his arm was sprained or dislocated.
He’s been off work ever since.
The second incident took place in early October when the second complainant was arrested for uttering threats.
He alleges during the arrest, his hand was injured and as a result, he required surgery.
The IIU says it has taken over both investigations.
