WINNIPEG – A city hall committee has shot down a man’s proposal to house racing pigeons in his River Heights backyard.
Several neighbours were unhappy with the idea as they were worried about the smell, noise and even property values going down.
Kerim Loewen says, he isn’t surprised this didn’t go his way.
“When the opposition decided to bring in the councilman from our area, that sealed the fate of it. He kind of steers the appeal board.”
The resident wanted to build a coop for almost 50 racing pigeons and claimed that the birds wouldn’t be a nuisance.
Earlier this week, it looked like the City was going to give him the green light but on Thursday, the appeals committee quashed the idea.
