WINNIPEG – More and more Manitobans are getting the message about using winter tires.
About half of all drivers in our province now use them, according to a new national survey.
That’s up more than 10% from a couple years ago.
But we still have one of the lowest rates in the country, tied with British Columbia and Saskatchewan.
Two thirds of drivers in Ontario use them with over 80% of motorists in the Maritimes using them as well.
All drivers in Quebec have winter tires since they are mandatory.
Overall, 68% of drivers in Canada have winter tires equipped.
The survey was conducted last month by the Tire and Rubber Association of Canada.
