Winnipeg – The Winnipeg Jets are now 3 for 3 versus the Chicago Blackhawks this season, including a pair of victories at the United Centre, after skating to a 3-1 decision over the NHL Western Conference leaders on Tuesday Night.
Once again it was Connor Hellebuyck making a difference as the Jets netminder made 34 saves, and has now allowed just 2 goals on 88 shots in the head to head match up.
Hellebuyck kept the Blackhawks off the scoresheet until almost midway through the game when Artem Anisimov tucked in a Patrick Kane set up from in tight. But by that time the Jets had built a 2-0 lead on goals by Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele, both deflections off Jacob Trouba point shots in the first period.
Drew Stafford gave Winnipeg some wiggle room to work with early in the third period when he slid a puck past Corey Crawford on a nice setup from Nic Petan.
The Jets 4th win in their last 5 games brought their overall season record back to .500 at 17-17-3. Thursday Night the league leading Columbus Blue Jackets pay a visit to downtown Winnipeg, riding the high of a 13 game winning streak after edging Boston 4-3.
