WINNIPEG – New specialty licence plates have been unveiled for paramedics.
Active or retired EMS workers and immediate family members can buy the plates, as well as family members of workers that have died.
Each plate will cost $70, $30 of which will be donated to the Manitoba and Winnipeg branches of the Canadian Mental Health Association.
“This provides us an opportunity to recognize the efforts that paramedics are making each and everyday to the health and well-being of all Manitobans,” says Eric Glass with the Paramedic Association of Manitoba. “About 78 per cent of paramedics in Manitoba feel that, at some point, they’re going to need psychological support after being involved in a critical incident. This will do a lot to support some initiatives to deal with mental health issues paramedics are facing each and every day.”
More information about the plates can be found on the Manitoba Public Insurance website.
