PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE – One of the most dominant teams in Canadian junior A hockey is once again on top of the MJHL.
The Portage Terriers captured the Turnbull Cup for the third straight year thanks to a 1-0 win over OCN Wednesday night, taking the Manitoba Junior Hockey League finals in six games.
Chase Brakel scored the only goal just 1:16 into the deciding game while Kurtis Chapman made 27 saves for the shutout.
The Terriers have now won the Turnbull Cup seven times in the last ten seasons, and won the RBC Cup in 2015 as the top junior A team in the country.
The team will now advance to the Western Canada Cup starting April 29 in Penticton, BC.
