VIDEO: Rebuilding The Riverbank In King's Park
The city is spending $1.5 million to stop King's Park from disappearing into the Red River. About 850 metres of riverbank is being rebuilt along the west side of St. Mary's Road near the Perimeter Highway. Strong volumes of floodwater have pounded and stripped away nearly an acre of soil in the last 15 years. Chunks of limestone are being installed in a rip-rap formation to stop the erosion.
