Pre-Existing Crack Caused Pipeline Explosion
A massive pipeline explosion south of Winnipeg last winter was caused by a pre existing crack. The Transportation Safety Board has released it's report into the January 2014 explosion of a Trans Canada Pipeline near Otterburne, Manitoba. That's about 50 km south of Winnipeg. It says the crack in the line had been there for 50 years but had remained stable until rupturing and exploding last year They say it was probably caused by shoddy welding.
